Senior HR Officer (FTC)

Purpose of Job Role:

The purpose of this position is to provide generalist Human Resources support across the Aztec Group with a strong focus on employee relations issues and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resource Support

  • Be the lead contact on employee relation issues, support and guide managers and staff on HR policy and procedures, including but not limited to tracking probation periods, managing absence, handling grievance and disciplinary matters in order to maintain and support the Group’s family-friendly ethos and to ensure that the function is perceived as firm but fair in all its dealings
  • Contribute to the Group's communication processes in order to develop and maintain effective employee relations 
  • Assist in the implementation of effective HR strategies, policies and practices that support the achievement of the Group's business objectives while fulfilling its obligations to employees
  • Keep up to date with relevant employment laws, legislation and best practice in all relevant jurisdictions for the Group and ensure any changes are shared with the HR team
  • To continually monitor and update statistical data to ensure that trends are reported


  • Contribute to the management and development of a recruitment and retention strategy, policy and workflow ensuring minimum turnover within the Group
  • Provide an efficient and effective service to the Group to ensure that its recruitment processes are robust and fit for purpose; ensuring all recruitment policies, procedures and approved Group standards are followed
  • Act as the point of contact with external recruitment specialists, ensuring positive relations are fostered with approved preferred agents
  • Assist in the Group’s recruitment advertising plans, by contributing ideas as to how we can attract candidates in the most cost effective way and in line with our employer brand
  • Assist managers with the maintenance and development of job descriptions for all roles within the Group, preparing advertisements, checking application forms and shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
  • Build and maintain a recruitment pack, to include developing testing tools for both graduate and general recruitment; competency based interview questions and ensuring that all recruiting managers are equipped and trained to carry out recruitment in line with the Group’s approved policies and procedures
  • Assist with the development of relevant manpower and succession plans, including the need for annual graduate intakes and follow through with the Audition Day process in line with current methodology

Knowledge, Skills and Expertise:

  • Several years’ practical HR experience within a financial services business at Senior HR Officer level supported by a relevant professional qualification (Institute of Personnel and Development Certificate in Personnel Practice or equivalent as a minimum)
  • Strong understanding of local employment legislation and its practical application in a commercial financial services business as well as an appreciation of the standards that are expected within a regulated environment
  • Strong internal and external communication and interpersonal skills are necessary together with the proven ability to develop good working relationships within the business and with recruitment agencies and other service providers
  • A positive and proactive approach to Human Resource management will be expected
  • Awareness of industry best practice on recruitment and of developments in all jurisdictions in which the Group operates to ensure effective levels of application
  • Sound technical and practical experience of recruitment and generalist HR support through practical work
  • Sound numeracy skills, data entry skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer literacy skills are essential; advanced user of MS Office products
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new information, processes and procedures
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, identify and deal with problems
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate recruitment related events and initiatives
  • Travel to other jurisdictional offices will be required
