Senior Human Resources Manager

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to work with the business in a partnership capacity to develop the People Agenda; translating business initiatives and goals into robust strategic plans that enable business delivery. The individual will be responsible for managing relationships with senior and line managers, key employee representatives (e.g. unions) and local regulatory bodies to maintain compliance. This role is to act as a change agent in a customer-focused; cost efficient; innovative, and structured way to quickly respond to changing business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HR Strategic Planning:
  • Support business leaders execute business plans to deliver tangible commercial benefits
  • Evolve HR business partnering through consultation across the business; develop new and innovative ways to engage employees and identify effective HR strategies to drive change in people management practices
  • Understand the talent needs of the business and support organisational and people capability building to develop the next generation of managers and leaders through longer term resource planning
  • Understand and support the redesign of organisational strutcures around strategic objectives
  • Contribute and identify new HR and business strategies to align with the Group’s goals and culture
  • HR Team Management:
  • Provide leadership, management and development a team of HR professionals; create detailed plans to support performance objectives, recruitment and commitment to development
  • Act as a primary point of contact for HR knowledge in response to employee and/or team requests, be well versed in Global HR Policies, and provide regular updates to the Head of HR
  • Work with the Senior Management team to determine workforce needs, identify human resource and competency gaps, and devise a development and workforce plan to facilitate staff engagement and retention
  • Ensure the HR team are working in a harmonised manner with consistency in application of policy throughout all offices. Identify and implement mechanisms to ensure cooperation, communication and teamwork
  • Employee Relations:
  • Track trends in employee behaviours and support strategies to promote positive organisational culture
  • Lead and have oversight of all employee relation matters with professional grace; act as an escalation for investigations to resolve workplace issues/conflict with close collaboration with other members of the HR team
  • Support leaders and managers in determining appropriate HR process. Oversee/act as an impartial mediator in procedures and ensure they are administered in a fair manner and meets all legal requirements
  • Serve as an ambassador and champion for Standards for Professional Code of Conduct; escalate code of conduct issues to the Head of HR, and link with Senior HR Manager for additional support and to ensure issue is resolved and appropriate follow-up is carried out
  • Recruitment:
  • Provide oversight on the resourcing process and evolve attraction and resourcing strategies, actively network and employ innovative, creative recruiting methods to hire the best talent and drive down the costs
  • Evolve and develop the recruitment, onboarding and secondment processes, measurements and documentation for efficiency, accuracy and consistency
  • Act as an authorised signatory where required
  • HR Administration and Compliance:
  • Lead HR projects and co-lead implementation for HR operating policies and procedures across the Group
  • Provide oversight and evolve HR administration processes to ensure all documentation is maintained for compliance with legislation and government reporting requirements, minimising legal exposure
  • Ensure Employee Handbook is developed and in place; review policies and procedures, make recommendations
  • On an as needed basis liaise with legal counsel on HR issues that require legal interpretations
  • Represent the business in HR consortiums, forums and legal seminars
  • Performance Management:
  • Implement retention and talent management strategies to identify talent issues before they affect the business
  • Lead the performance management cycle including creating a plan to manage annual reviews, utilise budget to organise development activities and work one-on-one with managers and employees
  • HR Communication and Reporting:
  • Understand the business to devise, implement, analyse and use HR analytics to support business strategy and report on issues that executives may not be aware of
  • Create internal staff communications, team-building and employee engagement activities
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise:
  • Evidence of advising and engaging senior leaders, along with demonstrable experience of effectively partnering with a business, embedding new initiatives and supporting employee groups of 500+ in multiple locations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, recommend and implement best practice approaches that deliver rapid, consistent, high-quality HR management and service provision
  • Strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills who is able to work seamlessly across countries, cultures, and organisational units required
  • Demonstrated ability to work, manage, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high volume environment and on deadline; aptitude for problem solving and decision making needed
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills required; capable of managing conflict and conflicting views.
  • Experience in presenting to different audiences verbally, in writing and in presentation formats; able to deliver compelling and clear strategies and recommendations
  • Proven experience in direct human resources work with a relevant professional qualification
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint and/or other intranet software
  • Commitment to personal development in pursuit of own objectives and those of the team and organisation
  • Travel to other jurisdictional offices will be required
