FAQ's
  • What is temping

Temping is a form of employment that is ‘temporary’ for example a set period of time (contract) or on a rolling basis. What it means is that the ‘Temp’ does not have a permanent position with the Company they are working for and are normally employed by a staffing agency or a recruitment consultancy and are contracted to the client.

  • If it’s not a permanent position, do I get any benefits?

Traditionally those working as temporary employees will not get the usual benefits such as health cover etc., instead the hourly rate that is paid tends to be a bit higher than that paid to a permanent employee and usually includes a percentage for ‘holiday pay’.

  • What kind of temp work is available?

Temporary work can be anything and is not restricted to secretarial or administrative work. GLS’s clients seek temps with a wide range of experience from qualified accountants to credit officers and highly experienced secretaries.

  • How long are temp assignments for?

Temporary assignments vary in length with some being for only a day and other lasting several months. It is entirely dependent upon the company’s needs.

  • Do I have to accept a temp assignment?

No, not at all, when a new temporary assignment comes in that matches your skill set, we will make you aware of it and it is then your choice if you wish to be put forward for the assignment. There could be a variety of reasons why it may or may not suit your needs. The benefit of temping is that it gives you more flexibility.

  • What do I need to do to register as a temp?

The first step is to contact us at GLS Recruitment, you can do this by calling us on 01534 852111 or you can register here.
